Zoe
ZHE the FREE is a multi-disciplinary artist, youth mentor and community builder. Growing up on Treaty 7 Land, she extends her fire from mountains to prairies. As a filmmaker, rapper, poet and storyteller, ZHE strives to inspire her audience to engage in creative expression and foster meaningful relationships. She is well versed in the hip hop and poetry community, as well as having her work as a filmmaker screen regularly since 2015. ZHE ignites the crowd with her skilled flow, vulnerable poetic eloquence and explosive stage presence. She connects with audiences on a deep level through the realness she brings to her creative work; addressing important social issues while hyping the crowd. From freestyle, to music, to visual storytelling, ZHE pulls you in and sparks inner reflection on how one can contribute to making the world a better place.
Her debut music project — The LOVE EP — charted number one on CJSW and received regular airplay on CBC Radio 1 and CKUA; showcasing her conscious bars and melodic combos. ZHE strives to create and hold space for women in hip hop and build community through artistic expression.
ZHE is an experienced Artist Mentor and collaborator for youth programming. She has worked in creative youth/community support programs for over eight years. ZHE brings incredible enthusiasm to her engaging teaching style. She is passionate about sharing knowledge around creativity, mental health, healing, storytelling and resiliency formed in community. Working with amazing organizations such as Chokecherry Studios, PAVED Arts, the National Music Centre, Science Genius, Beakerhead, Antyx, Refreshed, Telus SPARK and more has allowed her to combine her passions and commitment to bringing various artistic programs to youth. “Hip hop saved my life, and I aim to inspire others to use creativity as a positive outlet." ZHE is a phenomenal facilitator who fosters a vibrant space where others can share, explore and connect with their own unique voice.
